Fair Play Policy

Last updated: April 2026  ·  Writeout LLC

RIOT is a live game show built on creative competition. Winning means something here — and that only works if everyone plays fair. This policy describes what fair play looks like, what violates it, and what happens when it does.

The standard

Every player in a RIOT show agrees to compete honestly: submitting their own original responses, voting genuinely, and not interfering with other players' experience. That's the baseline. Everything below it is a violation.

What counts as a violation

Automation and bots Using any script, macro, bot, or automated tool to submit responses, cast votes, or interact with the app in any way. Every action in a RIOT show must be taken by a real human in real time.

Account manipulation Creating multiple accounts, sharing accounts, or coordinating with others to gain a competitive advantage. One player, one account.

Vote collusion Coordinating with other players — through any channel — to vote in a predetermined pattern, inflate scores, or suppress legitimate competitors. Votes must reflect genuine opinion.

Exploiting bugs Intentionally exploiting technical glitches, timing gaps, or app behavior to gain an advantage that wasn't intended by design. If you find a bug, report it — don't use it.

Identity fraud Impersonating another player, using a name designed to mislead others, or misrepresenting your identity in any way.

Harassment and abuse Submitting responses that target, threaten, or harass specific players. Hate speech, slurs, and content designed to intimidate or harm have no place in a RIOT show.

Enforcement

We monitor shows for anomalies. When a violation is detected — whether by our systems or reported by another player — we investigate. Depending on severity:

Violations involving prizes may result in prize forfeiture regardless of outcome.

Reporting a violation

If you witness something that violates this policy during a live show, report it through the app or email legal@writeout.co with as much detail as possible — show name, time, display name of the player involved.

We take reports seriously. We also investigate false reports.

Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was applied in error, contact legal@writeout.co with your display name and a description of the situation. We review all appeals within 5 business days.

These rules exist to protect the integrity of every show and every player in it. If you're playing straight, you'll never need to think about this page again.
